Tropical Traditions organic coconut flour is fiber from the coconut meat after most of the oil has been extracted to make Virgin Coconut Oil. It is certified organic, unsweetened, and has not been treated with sulfites.
Tropical Traditions organic coconut flour is high in dietary fiber and protein, and is gluten-free. It has more fiber than gluten-based grains. Tropical Traditions organic coconut flour can be added to standard wheat-based recipes to add extra fiber, by substituting 10-30% of the grain-based flour with our coconut flour. Some recipes, such as muffins and quick breads, can be accomplished with 100% Tropical Traditions organic coconut flour and therefore be 100% gluten-free! (See some free recipes below.) Since organic coconut flour contains natural sugar from the coconut meat, baked goods need less sugar added. The organic coconut flour has a mildly sweet coconut taste!
Tropical Traditions organic coconut flour also contains over 19% non-gluten protein! Therefore, it makes an excellent addition to shakes and smoothies where fiber and protein are needed. Or simply dissolve a spoonful in water as a high-fiber drink with a coconut flavor! This organic coconut flour is very versatile and very tasty. Sprinkle it over your favorite dishes to add a wonderful coconut flavor, use it as a thickener in soups and sauces - the possibilities are endless!

I used the coconut flour in a traditional cinnamon roll recipe(click for recipe and instructions). No one noticed and it didn't change the taste or texture of the cinnamon roll. I've never baked gluten free or even partial so I'm not familiar enough to know if it changes the texture or taste of the recipe. This recipe calls for 3 1/2-4 cups of flour. I used 2 cups of flour and 2 cups of coconut flour. Next time I'm going to try and only use the coconut flour.
I have a few more recipes that I will post soon. Do you use coconut flour? What is your experience? If you want to win a a bag enter below! Thanks to Tropical Traditions for supplying me with a bag to test recipes and a bag for the winner of my giveaway!

Thanks for sharing. I have a daughter allergic to wheat and some other children who need to be on high-fiber diets. This is a great resource new to me.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea coconut peanut butter existed.

I tweeted, joined the newsletter, I already follow you, I followed TropTraditions, and I'll blog next week. I do a recipe post every Thursday, so it might make it tomorrow.
Thanks again for sharing.
I learned that there is a difference between virgin and refined coconut oils - virgin coconut oils start out with fresh coconuts.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there was such a thing as coconut flour.
I did not know coconut flour was available until the first of this year. Tropical Tradiitons has a "Steals and Deals" page on their website, and several giveaways for their products are listed.
ReplyDeleteOooh! I *LOVE* Tropical Traditions!I'm already on their email list. I was referred to the site by a friend. I just found out that all my health issues are from a major overgrowth of candida caused by a number of prescriptions I was on. Having coconut flour is a life-saver when there are so many things I have to avoid eating right now. Plus! Coconut oil is a fabulous anti-fungal! It kills the bad bacteria & candida in your gut but won't harm the friendly intestinal bacteria.

ReplyDeleteHi! I saw your blog link on the TT website - that's how I found this giveaway. No one's mentioned the BOGO deal on the top-of-the-line (gold?) coconut oil. We've only bought the expeller pressed before (and love it) but I'm looking for something w/ coconut flavor. The expeller pressed is very bland - but still supposed to be good for you, and it's a GREAT cooking oil. PLease enter me in the giveaway! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm also signed up for the TT newsletter - five more entries, yay :) thanks for having this giveaway!!!

ReplyDeleteThat coconut oil contains lauric acid that kills viruses. I have used the coconut oil from Tropical Traditions before for everything from cooking,a warm oil treatment for my hair before shampooing(excellent!),and for chapped lips and dry skin. You just rub a little in and it soaks right in(no greasy feel).
ReplyDeleteI learned that pure, dried coconut contains more fiber per gram than even oat bran! They had some coconut chips on their site that sounded yummy!
ReplyDeleteI commented on your UBP welcome post!
ReplyDeleteI went to their website and read about The Oatmeal Test and digestive enzymes. Very interesting. I learned that they sell digestive enzymes
