Fix-It and Forget-It Cookbook: Feasting with Your Slow Cooker
This 262 page book is jammed packed with 700 tasty recipes!  Here is another recipe we tried!  My kids L-O-V-E their Nana's Beef Stroganoff.  I decided to try out one of the recipe in this book for stroganoff because it was for the slow cooker.  I needed one of those yummy, family-comfort-food-meals that could cook all day and provide a day of leftovers! This one is a winner!
For some reason I don't have a final photo! Not sure what happened!! Now I know that I'll have to make it again to take a picture! Here are the mushroom that I used in the recipe!!!
Steak Stroganoff

2 T Flour
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp paprika
1 3/4 lb. boneless beef round steak
10 oz can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 c. water
1 envelope dried onion soup mix
9 oz jar sliced mushrooms, drained
1/2 c. sour cream
1 T minced fresh parsley

1. Combine flour, garlic powder, pepper and paprika in slow cooker.
2. Cut mean into 1 1/2 by 1/2 inch strips.  Place in flour mixture and toss until meat is well coated.
3. Add soup, water and soup mix.  Stir until well blended.
4. Cover. Cook on high 3-3 1/2 hrs or low 6-7 hrs.
5. Stir in mushrooms, sour cream, and parsley.  Cover and cook on high 10-15 minutes, or until heated through.
Serve with rice. Makes 6 servings.

Kitchen Notes:
My changes-
*I doubled the recipe and for the double I added chicken.  So the recipe had both chicken and steak.  You couldn't tell the difference from the steak or chicken.
*I didn't use paprika
*Instead of the water I used wine.
*Instead of jar mushrooms I used fresh. I added them at the beginning.
*This turned out very salty. I normally cook low sodium but the dried onion soup mix kicked it up into a high sodium meal.  (NOTE if you do not cook LOW SODIUM you won't think that this is a high sodium meal and you won't know the difference) Next time I make this I'm going to add in dry onions and low sodium beef cubes.
*To cut the salty taste I just added in more sour cream.
*We ate it with noodles.
*This meal is delish! Everyone ate it and wanted to keep it in our food rotation!
