Butterscotch Friendship Bread ROCKS!

I have to say out of all the Friendship Bread that I have baked over the years, this one hands downs is my most favorite one.  Perfect crust, perfect insides, tasty and moist and is the perfect anytime snack.

Here is the tasty recipe:

Butterscotch Friendship Bread (click to print recipe)

Ingredients:

1 c Amish friendship bread starter
3 eggs
3/4 c oil
1/2 c milk
1 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 small boxes instant butterscotch pudding mix
1 c butterscotch chips

Directions:

1. Preheat your oven to 325°.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the starter, eggs, oil, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract until everything is well combined.

2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and pudding mix. Add the starter mixture to the flour mixture and gently stir until the batter just barely comes together. Gently stir in the butterscotch chips.

3. Divide the batter evenly between two well greased loaf pans.  Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a bread comes out clean. Allow the breads to cool  at least 20 minutes in their pans before removing. IF not you will loose the bottom and I tell you this from experience! Set them on a wire rack to cool.  Out of all the breads that I bake, this one likes to sink down in the middle as it is cooling.  Don't worry it taste awesome.  I store my bread in ziplock bags. You can also freeze them!  (Thanks to Jennifer's Treasured Recipes for sharing this recipe with me.)

  1. That looks delicious!

I remember making Amish friendship bread in grade school and my mom throwing out my starter because she thought it was garbage...I was devastated! Your recipe on how to make your own starter would have been helpful :)
