Still Missing by Chevy Stevens Crazy Book Tours Review

Still Missing

(From Publishers) On the day she was abducted, Annie O’Sullivan, a thirty-two year old realtor, had three goals—sell a house, forget about a recent argument with her mother, and be on time for dinner with her ever- patient boyfriend. The open house is slow, but when her last visitor pulls up in a van as she's about to leave, Annie thinks it just might be her lucky day after all. Interwoven with the story of the year Annie spent as the captive of psychopath in a remote mountain cabin, which unfolds through sessions with her psychiatrist, is a second narrative recounting events following her escape—her struggle to piece her shattered life back together and the ongoing police investigation into the identity of her captor.

The truth doesn’t always set you free.

Still Missing is that rare debut find--a shocking, visceral, brutal and beautifully crafted debut novel.

My take on the book:
Click to read the first chapter of this very chilling, thrilling book.  This book goes through the abduction of Annie, her life for a year living with her abductor and then her escape and life after the event.  I've never read a book that takes you through all these steps in the life of a captured victim.  It was chilling and unsettling to say the least!  I had much empathy for Annie and was thrilled with the way the book ended.

Kudos to Chevy Stevens for putting together such a fine psychological thriller. The descriptions were very vivid and familiar to me.  As I read this book, the movie of it played along in my head.  I think that this book, if kept the way the author intended, would make a great psychological thriller movie. This is her first novel and I can't wait to see what she writes in the future!

Chevy Stevens grew up on a ranch on Vancouver Island and still calls the island home. For most of her adult life she worked in sales, first as a rep for a giftware company and then as a Realtor. STILL MISSING is her first novel.

Disclosure:  I was sent this book as part of the Crazy Book Tours.  I read the book, write a review and pass the book on to the next tour host.  My own tasty opinions were expressed here.
