Pinterest for Dummies- Giveaway

Are you addicted to Pinterest like I am? Or are you just thinking about getting on Pinterest? Either way, you should check out the Pinterest for Dummies book written by author Kelby Carr. Kelby is CEO and founder of Type-A Parent. She has created a book with a little bit of something for all levels of Pinterest users.

About the book (provided): Pinterest For Dummies, Portable Edition will help
new users get started creating their Pinterest boards, finding people to follow,
and pinning bookmarks. The book will cover:
What Pinterest is about and why you should use it
 Getting your account set up
Setting up boards and getting organized
Pinning, repinning and giving credit where credit is due
Using hashtags, liking pins, commenting, finding people to follow,
checking out Tastemakers, sharing pins with your other social
 networks, and using search

My Take on the Book: I've been using Pinterest for quite some time now. I actually tell people how to use it and encourage people to sign up. As part of my Social Media Virtual Assistant jobs, I manage Pinterest pages for my employers. Even so, I found the book very informative.

The book has 12 chapters ranging from Getting Started on Pinterest, to Creating Boards, Pinning and Repinning, Socializing on Pinterest as well as Using Community Features, Finding Ways to Use Pinterest, Going Mobile and Understanding Pinterest Etiquette. The book also covers Controlling Privacy and Self-Promoting on Pinterest. Kelby finished up the book with her thoughts on the 10 Companies Using Pinterest Effectively and 10 Power Pinners to Follow.

What is Pinterest: Pinterest is a visual collection of bookmarks that you organize into virtual pinboards. If you see something on a blog, your favorite retailer's website, or even something that you take a picture of with your smartphone, you can pin it to one of your Pinterest boards for future reference. Pinterest is also a social network. You can follow other users and be followed by others. You can repin something another user has pinned, or you can like it or comment on it.

So are you already on Pinterest or just thinking about it? Do you have any questions about Pinterest? I strongly suggest that you get this book.

  1. I am hoping to win the Pinterest for Dummies book because I have NO idea how it works! But I HAVE seen some great things posted via Facebook that I'd love to see more of. Perhaps this book will help. If I don't win it, I will just bug my friend Susan to help me! ;-)

  2. I'm like Janet. I have no idea how pinterest works. I have tried to play around with it and can't get it. I do know how to follow someone but to pin things I just don't know how to do it. I need easy and I don't think Pinterest is easy but maybe it is because I have no clue how to do it. Love blogger it is sososososo easy. Dislike Word Press. I tried them for a month they are yucky. I need easy because I'm not computer savvy.

love to win this to learn more.
