Smiling For Dreyer’s Slow Churned Ice Cream

Nothing makes my family smile more than finding ice cream in our freezer during a hot summer day. What do you expect with 3 teen girls and 1 daddy? Everyone has a favorite and if I don't buy it they will. I personally avoid ice cream unless it is something that I am really craving. I'm on a healthier eating kick and loving it all the way.
When I do have a sweet treat I want it to be something that I really enjoy. Last week we were at a huge family wedding and I could NOT wait until the wedding cake was cut. It was worth the wait and I enjoyed every bite of it.

Ok so yes, as the mom of this house I do eat ice cream when I really want it. I will pick Edy's/Dreyer's Slow Churned butter pecan because it is creamy and has 1/2 the fat and 1/3 fewer calories than other ice cream. My family likes it, too, and I don't even think that they know it has less fat and calories than other ice cream (shhhhhh.) Portion control is a something that I am training myself to do and they sell 5.8 oz containers which is a perfect small treat.
I alway read the side of containers to find out what a serving size is and what calories, fat, sugar, sodium, etc I will be putting into my body. One way to make a perfect portion controlled treat (besides the small containers that they sell) is to scoop in 1/2 of a serving (which is 1/4 of a cup) into a push pop container. When I'm wanting a bit of chocolate I will add in a few squirts. This is the perfect 60 calorie treat for me and puts a smile on my face to know that I'm sticking to my healthier eating plan.
Speaking of smiling, have you ever heard of Operation Smile? It is a non-for-profit company that provides reconstructive surgeries to children all over the world who suffer from cleft lip and cleft palate facial deformities. Dreyer's will be donating $5 for every "ice cream smile" photo uploaded on their Facebook page this summer.
They have a goal to giveaway more than 25,000 scoops of ice cream and capture 25,000 photos of ice cream smiles this summer. Your participate will help deliver more than 500 reconstructive surgeries for these children. Now isn't that something to smile about?

I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Dreyer’s / Edy’s. I received a coupon to purchase product samples and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
