Trick or Treat! Those 3 words can only mean that it is time for Halloween. I have always loved dressing up for Halloween! I remember back in the day (1970s) my most favorite and perfect costume was a Wonder Woman hard plastic face costume. I’m sure that I played with it for hours before and after Halloween. How about you? Do you have a favorite costume from your childhood?
To keep the tradition going with dressing up in the perfect Halloween costume wtih my daughters, we have always started many months ahead talking about what they wanted to be. Sometimes their costume ideas would change several times until they found just the right one! Over the years, the girls were Raggedy Ann and Andy, Princess Leia and Queen Amidala as well as a bunny, dog, ladybug, the Power Puff Girls and even Zombies! By far, our favorite would have to be the Zombie themed party! It is an easy theme that is easy to plan. Just about everyone who came to the party came dressed up in their perfect version of a Zombie!

Anyone can put on a Halloween party! For me, the easiest way is to have a theme for the party. Theme parties are always so much fun! We enjoyed this Zombie costume party because it was all of our favorite family and friends together eating zombie, finger licking foods and drinking toxic waste punch. By creating a party theme you can focus on what foods fit the theme and easily find or make decorations for the party. Themes are great for the guest, too! Everyone loved planning out their costume to be the best Zombie, ever.
To create the perfect costume, check around and see what you have available at home. The Zombie costumes were best made from ordinary clothes. Some of our Zombies wore military outfits, one wore a wedding dress, several were medical workers to ordinary dressed people. I was a Mommy Zombie and wore hair curlers, bathrobe and pajamas. The key to a perfect Zombie costume is the make up. Everyone needed either dark and creepy or pale and bloody make up.
For us, Halloween has always been about fun foods, kid activities and family & friend get togethers. This year we have enjoyed the pre-Halloween eating candy and creating new recipes with the HERSHEY'S KISSES Chocolates with the Pumpkin Spice flavors. From creating that perfect Halloween costume to the actual trick or treating event we have always enjoyed the Halloween season no matter the ages of our girls.
Tell me your most perfect Halloween Costume that you you made, bought, etc. below in the comments!

ReplyDeleteWe go camping in October and the campground does Halloween weekends thru the month where you can win a weekend if your decorations are good. We brought everything you could think of for decorations. We all dressed up like the witches from the movie Hocus Pocus. We won that year. It was fun. Kathy

When my son was about 4 , I designed a train engineer costume for him. He wore a pair of OshKosh short overalls over a red plaid shirt. He also had a train engineer's cap and a wooden whistle that made a train sound when you blew on it. He was adorable!
