Do you have a child who needs special surgery? Are you unsure where to turn to? If you can get to New York City, here is a resource for you!

It isn't easy dealing with developmental challenges in your child especially when normal developmental milestones aren't happening. Frustration on the parent's part is almost always related to the feeling of helplessness. This helplessness is because as a parent we do not know how to help our child reach lagging milestones. We had this with one of our twins and I didn't even know where to turn to besides my local pediatrician.
Do you have a child who has needed or needs: sports rehabilitation, orthopedic care, disabilities or developmental challenges? Have you had to seek out out specialized care on your own? Where did you go? Who did you turn to? What advice can you share with other parents who are seeking this type of specialized care?
As a parent, we are always looking for the best provider for our children. Sometimes this is difficult because of insurance issue. Besides your personal insurance there is an Early Intervention government sponsored program for children under three who qualify. Besides the funding, most parents do not know where or who to turn to. Sure we can ask family and friends but thanks to the internet we can all jump online and do our own research. Some kids have multiple health issues that can't be taken care of by just a local pediatrician. Can you relate? If your first resource is your local pediatrician then let you next resource be a specialized rehab center that can take all the issues your child is facing.
I just learned about the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) located in New York City. It is the world leader in orthopedics, rheumatology and rehabilitation. HSS recently opened the CA Technologies Rehabilitation Center at the Children's Pavilion providing comprehensive, individualized rehabilitation for both inpatients and outpatients from birth to 21 years. Its multidisciplinary staff includes physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists.
Does this sound like a resource you could use or do you know of someone who is need of this resource? Check out the Hospital for Special Surgery website where you can learn about this new CA Technologies Rehabilitation Center within the Lerner Children's Pavilion.
Here is a video tour of the 7,000 square foot rehab center, which is beautiful! I love how bright and cheery the place looks and the little mirrored windows where parents can watch their kids work! It is a great resource. If this isn't for you, maybe you can share it with someone who needs it!
The HSS rehab center also has a Facebook page! Stop over and check it out at Hospital for Special Surgery Facebook page.
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Hospital for Special Surgery. A small donation to a charity of my choice was made in my name as a thank you for participating. You should consult with your physician or other health care provider before beginning any rehabilitation/therapy, sports training, or exercise program.
