With the help of blogging and Pinterest, I really believe that more and more people are using vinegar for not only recipes but to create natural cleaners. A lot of us are trying to eliminate extra chemicals in our homes. At least daily I find new cleaning products for vinegar. Do you use vinegar in your kitchen for recipes or for natural cleaning products?
I always have several bottles of Heinz Vinegar in my kitchen. No only do I create new and tasty recipes with vinegar but I use it for cleaning! I believe that I have tried every single variety of Heinz Vinegar for creating my recipes expect the Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar because my local store doesn't carry it, yet!
Did you know that there are more than just white vinegar and apple cider vinegars in the store? It is true! I was discussing this with a friend who had never heard of Tarragon Vinegar, Cleaning Vinegar or even the new Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar. I sent her over to the Heinz Vinegar website to check out all the varieties. What is your favorite to use in the kitchen?
Here are my Top 10 Uses for Vinegar in the Kitchen
1- Baby Blue Homemade Cleaner- This homemade cleaner recipe uses Cleaning Vinegar. I use it to clean the inside and outside of my refrigerator. It also gets used in the bathroom!
2-Italian Sub Salad- This is a family favorite recipe. If your family loves eating a Subway this is a must try recipe. We use the Red Wine Vinegar for this recipe.
3-Once a week I add one cup of white vinegar to the dishwasher with a load of dishes to clean and freshen up the dishwasher.
4-Hearts of Palm Salad- Perfect salad for summer! I love this one because it uses the Tarragon Vinegar.
5-I was searching around on the new Heinz Vinegar Pinterest Page and found a few new things to add to my top 10! I will be trying the Marinated Chilled Shrimp recipe for my 20th Anniversary dinner I'm cooking hubby next month! He is going to LOVE these made with apple cider vinegar.
6-Spinach and Strawberry Salad- I could eat this every day. I use mainly Balsalmic Vinegar for this recipe but if I'm out then I use the Salad Vinegar, Tarragon or Red Wine Vinegar. I would love to try it with the Unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar.
7-Once a week I pour 2 cups of vinegar down my kitchen drain and my kitchen disposal with a squirt of dish soap. I do the at the end of the night and sometime before bed I turn on the hot water and disposal to give it a good clean!
8-Apple Iced Tea- This uses the Unfiltered Apple Cider and looks so refreshing!
9- Gnat Killer! - Early this summer we had a crazy amount of gnats in our house because of fresh fruit. I didn't see the gnats at the store but apparently their eggs were on some fruit. So the eggs hatched and I caught them in a bowl of apple cider vinegar. It takes a small shallow bowl half full of vinegar to do the trick. It also takes patience but after a few days they all went to the vinegar and drown. I hope they died happy.
10-I made a new Heinz Vinegar Recipe! From their website I made their Berry Vinaigrette using blueberries! It is so awesome and great with spinach! I think that I might like this better than using strawberries!

2-Cover and store in fridge.
3-Serve at room temp. and this can be made in advance.
4-If preferred, replace with Heinz Distilled White Vinegar.

Cleaning vinegar?! Really? Interesting. So what's the difference between that and using the regular white vinegar for cleaning? Do you also use it in your washing machine? (I think you said that on Google+, right?)
ReplyDeleteHi Petula,
ReplyDeleteThe cleaning vinegar has a different acidity level! Sometimes it is in the cleaning section of the store. Today I actually saw it with all the other vinegars. So I think it is in both places! YES I use it in the wash especially with towels, bed linens, kitchen towels, etc. LOVE IT and my teens are now trained to use it.
